Great, but...

10 minutes for happiness tasks

I've been sharing these ideas with teacher in workshops for several years. They are usually met with one of 2 reactions:

       "Great!"

or   "Great,but..."

"Great, but..." is usually followed with "I don't have enough time","I have a set curriculum that I don't control", "I have to teach the textbook", "Happiness is not approved by the Ministry of Eductation, "etc.

The activities here are short. You can use them as a warm-up, a cool down at the end of class or just for a change of pace in the middle of class.

I do suggest you start with the "Happiness Dictation". That way, your students will understand how the other activities fit into a larger program.

The PDF file on this page has the "master file" of 14 short tasks. The other pages in this part of the website has the same activities, downloadable as single tasksheets. The next few pages also gives a short description each item, along with the language and positive psychology aim of each.

The numbers on the individual tasksheets relate to the number of the items in the happiness dictation (and on Lyubormirky's list on the first page of this site). But there is no reason you need to so them in that order. It is probably better to mix them up so you recycle topics later in the term.
